TESTIMONIAL

Real stories of healing shared by our patients

Dr. Plancher is the BEST Orthopaedics physician east of the Mississippi! I have been his patient for over 20 years and would not trust anyone else to touch me. I destroyed my knee when I was 22 and was lucky enough to have my reconstruction under the famed Dr. J. Richard Steadman. When I moved east, I needed a dr. here. One call to Vail and I had Dr. P’s number. His manner is straight forward and to the point, no sugar-coating or hemming and hawing. He knows what he is doing and will tell what you need. He will listen to your questions, answer succinctly, and lay out what you need to know about your condition.

HEATHER METZGER Happy Patient

In the case of my wife’s recent knee surgery, the process started with extremely thorough pre-op medical exams and imaging and a series of unhurried interviews with Dr. Plancher and his PA, then outpatient surgery in a NY City hospital (chosen because of the low number of Covid cases), followed by post-op nursing care by RNs with extensive orthopaedic experience and home PT sessions, which gave her the support and confidence to relax and get well.

ROBERT FALK Happy Patient

Back in 2005 I was so happy to find Dr. Plancher after several years of pain and discomfort with my knee. Dr. Plancher was very understanding and thorough before doing the replacement. So, 18 years pain free and no issues walking and I am able to exercise and live a normal life. I also had a Muni knee replacement in my other knee 10 years ago, again no issues. Lots of physical therapy and I am happy and pain free. I highly recommend Dr. Plancher for doing knee replacements.

Your Orthopaedic Questions Answered

An ACL injury refers to trauma to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in the knee, which can range from a mild sprain to a complete tear.

Common signs include hearing or feeling a "pop" at the time of injury and experiencing instability or a buckling sensation in the knee.
An ACL injury usually occurs when the knee is sharply twisted or extended beyond its normal range of motion.
Frozen shoulder, also called adhesive capsulitis, is a thickening and tightening of the soft tissue capsule that surrounds the glenohumeral joint, the ball and socket joint of the shoulder.
The major symptoms of frozen shoulder are pain and loss of motion.
The labrum is a disk of cartilage on the glenoid, or “socket” side of the shoulder joint. It helps stabilize the joint and acts as a “bumper” to limit excessive motion of the humerus, the “ball” side of the shoulder joint.
The primary symptom of a labral tear that is not associated with instability is pain in the area of the injury. Labral tears that involve the biceps tendon can make using the biceps tendon painful. Patients with labral tears from internal impingement will complain that they have pain with throwing.
Repeated abrasion on any of the surfaces of the patella and femur stresses the soft tissues of the patellofemoral joint and may even lead to a bone bruise. In some cases, the pain is caused by a weakening of the articular cartilage and/or swelling within the joint.
