Prevent Soccer Injuries and Stay on the Field!

There is no doubt that the whole world loves soccer. If you are a big fan of the sport too and you want to spend more time on the field, you have to stay away from soccer injuries. Here at our New York sports medicine practice, we help athletes fully recover from injuries and help them return to their optimal state. Thus we have made a list of the things you have to do to prevent soccer injuries.

  • Be sure that you have fully recovered from a previous injury before going back to the field. A previous injury that has not yet fully healed increases your chances of getting hurt again. Do not return to the field too early.
  • Use the right protective equipment. Stay away from bone fractures of the lower leg by wearing shin guards. Your shin guards should fit you perfectly and must cover your entire leg. Goalkeepers need padded uniforms that protect the hips, shoulders, and elbows.
  • Follow the rules of the game. Play fairly and follow the laws of soccer. These rules protect the health of the players and strongly prohibit actions that can cause harms to the athletes. Ignoring fair play will only lead to serious sanctions.
  • Perform exercises that train the body. The human body has defense mechanisms that will help you avoid injuries. By training these mechanisms, your body can resist injuries much better. Of course, you have to do it regularly to make it effective.

Any soccer player, even the finest ones that the world has seen, can get hurt. You can only do so much in preventing injuries. Then again, it is still best to proactively stay away from getting hurt and lengthen your soccer career.
