Kevin D. Plancher, MD, MPH attended the 2022 American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS) Annual Meeting in Carlsbad, California this week sitting as Chair on an instructional course. Instructed by Doctors Bohn, Kuzel, and Materi, attendees enjoyed Missed or “Mismanaged: How To Not Be Seen”. This course highlighted and discussed commonly missed conditions within the hand with the idea that trained professionals can always improve and learn from past mistakes. Following the session, participants are able to:
- Identify potential conditions that can be missed or mismanaged within hand surgery.
- Discuss how to better manage conditions that can easily be mismanaged.
- Discuss how to better avoid easily mismanaged conditions.
- Discuss how to better avoid easily missed conditions.
- Develop a treatment algorithm for management of missed and mismanaged conditions.
