Kevin D. Plancher, MD, MPH recently sat down with Dr. Scott Sigman, the host of The Ortho Show. In this episode Dr. Plancher shares his story of becoming an orthopaedic surgeon, his sports medicine fellowship, including stories with previous fellow Dr. Shariff Bishai, and Dr. Plancher’s responsibilities being named chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Board of Specialty Societies (BOS). The BOS brings together the leaders of the 23 musculoskeletal societies to address advocacy, continuing medical education, research, and membership, residency, and fellowship issues. It also serves as an advisory body to the AAOS Board of Directors and promotes unity and collaboration between specialty societies and the Academy. Finally, the discuss Dr. Plancher’s global lectures on issues related to orthopaedic procedures and sports injury management and his founding of the “Orthopaedic Summit: Evolving Techniques”, (OSET) a national conference.
